The race-week geography
The mistake is booking near the start. Wineglass is point to point and everything that matters to you before and after the race happens in Corning, not Bath: bib pickup, the finish on Market Street, the gear trucks, and your bed at 11 a.m. when you can barely walk. The race's own transportation page (fetched) says all runners must bus to the start and that there is no parking at the start lines, so a Bath hotel buys you a five-minute morning ride and then strands you at the finish waiting on a return shuttle. Book Corning, walk to the buses, and treat Bath as overflow only. Note that the race site has no lodging page at all: the two obvious URLs both 404, so there is no evidence of an official host hotel or room block, and the hotel walk times below come from your own prior measurements rather than from a fetched page.
Market Street / Gaffer District
2 min to finish (Gaffer Inn, previously measured)
This is the finish line itself, and the strongest base for a point-to-point race. The Gaffer Inn sits about two minutes from the finish, which means you can be horizontal minutes after crossing. One fetched constraint matters here: the race says Market Street parking is prohibited and that cars parked on Market Street will be towed, so if you drive in you park in the Centerway Parking Garage at 2 East Tioga Ave. or a nearby city surface lot, both of which the race lists as free. At 5:45 a.m. the district is dark and quiet with almost nothing open, but you are walking a couple of blocks to the buses rather than driving anywhere.
Denison Parkway corridor / east end of Market
6 min to finish (DoubleTree and Radisson Hotel Corning, previously measured)
Both the DoubleTree and the Radisson sit roughly six minutes from the finish, and the Radisson has a specific logistical advantage the race site confirms: the gear bag trucks are staged at the eastern-most point of Market Street, near the Radisson, so your bag and your room are on the same end of the finish chute. The Corning Transportation Center at 85 Denison Parkway East, where the afternoon Bath shuttles depart, is also on this corridor. Denison is the main through road rather than a closed race street, so a car can generally reach these hotels, though I could not fetch a current closure map to confirm which cross streets are cut on race morning.
Bath (start end)
Only worth it if Corning is sold out. The race lists free surface parking around the Steuben County Office Buildings at 3 East Pulteney Square and a Bath bus from Pulteney Park to the marathon start with a five-minute ride, so race morning is easy. The problem is the afternoon: fetched pages say the free return shuttles to Pulteney Park run only every half hour from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from the Corning Transportation Center, so finishing at, say, 11:20 a.m. means standing around in Corning in wet clothes before a bus ride back. Note that the half marathon does not start in Bath at all, so a Bath base makes even less sense for that race.

The morning connection
There is no public transit answer here; the buses are the transit, they are mandatory, and they are the single hardest deadline of your weekend. The race's transportation page states that all runners must bus to the start, that there is no parking at the start lines, that you must have your bib in hand before boarding, and that spectators are not allowed on the buses at all. Everything below is from that fetched page unless flagged otherwise. Miss the last bus and you do not run.
