A weekend rhythm that protects race day

  1. Arrival. Base your first walk on the real start and finish geometry, then inspect the final approach in the route map.
  2. Packet pickup. Go to Corning Museum of Glass (CMOG) inside its published window; save the final hours offline.
  3. The day before. Choose one course landmark, keep the outing short, and finish your feet-up time early.
  4. Race day. Follow the transportation plan, not ordinary weekend traffic directions.
  5. After the finish. Let the finish-area access plan decide the meal and meetup, especially on a point-to-point course.

Where the weekend should be based

The mistake is booking near the start. Wineglass is point to point and everything that matters to you before and after the race happens in Corning, not Bath: bib pickup, the finish on Market Street, the gear trucks, and your bed at 11 a.m. when you can barely walk. The race's own transportation page (fetched) says all runners must bus to the start and that there is no parking at the start lines, so a Bath hotel buys you a five-minute morning ride and then strands you at the finish waiting on a return shuttle. Book Corning, walk to the buses, and treat Bath as overflow only. Note that the race site has no lodging page at all: the two obvious URLs both 404, so there is no evidence of an official host hotel or room block, and the hotel walk times below come from your own prior measurements rather than from a fetched page.

Course geometry provenance is stated beside the player; elevation profiles always use the same route loaded there. City geometry is OpenStreetMap, ODbL. Aerial imagery is from USGS and USDA; other images carry their own source credits. Weather figures use Open-Meteo reanalysis for September 30-October 8 across 2016-2025 at the start line.
