The no-surprises plan
Expo, schedule and race morning
Tom Falvey Health & Wellness Expo at Savage Arena (University of Toledo campus) ยท Toledo, OH
Packet pickup
- Friday, April 23: 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM (all events) โ the official expo page prints this as "12:00 AM to 7:00 PM", which is contradictory; both readings recorded
- Saturday, April 24: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (marathon, half marathon, relay)
- Saturday, April 24: 6:30-8:15 AM and 9:30-11:00 AM (Savage 5K and Kids Run only)
- There is no Sunday packet pickup. Marathon/half/relay packets must be collected Friday or Saturday, or mailed in advance โ there is no race-morning option.
- You must present the registration barcode from your RunSignup confirmation email or RunSignup profile to get your bib. Have it on your phone before you queue.
- Proxy pickup is allowed per the RunSignUp FAQ, but the proxy must carry your confirmation documentation/barcode.
- Bibs can be mailed in advance only if you buy that add-on, and the FAQ puts the cutoff at roughly two weeks before race day. It covers individual marathon and half entrants only โ relay teams cannot use it and must appear at the expo.
- Saturday's early 5K/Kids Run windows (6:30-8:15 AM, 9:30-11:00 AM) are separate from the 10 AM-5 PM marathon window; a 5K runner arriving at 9:00 AM finds the expo shut.
- Expo doubles as in-person registration for events with open fields, merchandise, and the pacer meet-up.

Dates and times are as published for the 50th running, Sunday April 25, 2027 (expo Friday April 23 and Saturday April 24); the homepage confirms April 25, 2027 as race day and the RunSignUp FAQ lists the April 24/25 event times. A 6:32 AM marathon start is unusually early: with no Sunday packet pickup, everything must be settled by Saturday 5:00 PM. The marathon has a 6.5-hour limit with mandatory checkpoints (the FAQ states runners must be through mile 10 by "9:10pm", evidently a typo for 9:10 AM); the half marathon has a strictly enforced 3.5-hour cutoff.
Getting there
Two things govern race morning: Bancroft closes at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday between Secor and University Hills, and regular TARTA fixed-route and TARPS service does not start until 6:30 a.m. on Sundays. That combination means public transit is useless for getting to a start line, and the only workable options are the free race-day TARTA buses from the four hotel pickup points or driving yourself onto campus very early. Also note the eastbound Bancroft closure between Secor and Westwood runs continuously from 5:00 a.m. Saturday until 1:00 p.m. Sunday, so that corridor is gone for the whole weekend, not just race morning.
- Sunday closures that matter for reaching the start. Bancroft between Secor and University Hills is closed 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Corey Road is closed 8:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. between Sylvania and Central, and the I-475 Corey Road exit is closed 7:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., which removes the obvious highway approach from the north. Indian Road (Talmadge to Secor) closes 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and assorted Ottawa Hills streets close 6:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Sylvania Ave eastbound from King to Corey is closed 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- A contradiction on Richards Road. The race's own parking and road closures page lists northbound Richards Road from Dorr as closed 7:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Local news coverage of the same closure list reported it as 7:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Both readings are in circulation; plan around the later end time.
- Campus parking and towing. Area 10, north of the Glass Bowl, closes from 8 p.m. Thursday and stays closed through Sunday. On Friday and Saturday no permit is required in Areas 1N, 1S, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and on Sunday no permits are required to park anywhere on Main Campus. Reserved, disabled, metered, patient and no-overnight spaces are still enforced. The race site says campus parking is controlled by Park UToledo and that violations may bring tickets and/or towing, but no page I fetched gives a towing start time.
- Free TARTA race-morning buses. TARTA runs complimentary courtesy rides to the UT campus from four points: the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel (444 N. Summit St), the Hilton Garden Inn Toledo Downtown (101 N. Summit St), a Secor Road stop in front of Fusian at 3504 Secor Road, and the Courtyard by Marriott Toledo Airport Holland (1435 E. Mall Dr). Departures are in a 5 a.m. window with the Secor Road stop offering an earlier 4:50 a.m. option. Information line: (419) 243-7433.
- Getting back to your room after the finish. You finish on the field inside the Glass Bowl. Return buses leave the University of Toledo Transit Center on S. Towerview Blvd for each of the four hotels at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. If you drive yourself, note that Bancroft does not reopen until 11:00 a.m. and the eastbound Secor-to-Westwood segment stays shut until 1:00 p.m., so a sub-4 finisher will be sitting on campus for a while regardless.
- Regular transit is too late to be useful. TARTA fixed-route and TARPS service begins at 6:30 a.m. on Sundays, well after you need to be at the start. Race-day detours to normal routes are posted at tarta.com/routes.
- Dinner the night before. Registry Bistro on Adams Street in downtown Toledo is the standard pre-race dinner pick, walkable from both Summit Street hotels. Stated plainly: this recommendation is my own general knowledge, not something I sourced from any page fetched for this dossier, so confirm hours and a reservation directly.
