Agate Street, in the shadow of Hayward Field (finish is on the track inside Hayward Field)
The race in 60 seconds
First run in 2007, Eugene has had time to become part of the city's running calendar. The route is a loop, keeping the start and finish in the same part of the city. The modeled line carries about 709 feet of total climb and ranges from roughly 386 to 555 feet above sea level. Look for John E. Jaqua Academic Center for Student Athletes, Matthew Knight Arena, Autzen Stadium, Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact (Building 1) in the flyover, with recognizable forms modeled from architectural records.
Fly the course
The whole course, built from the best available published route trace and an extruded model of Eugene. Scrub it, change the camera, or let it play. Nothing here is a video: it is drawing the city live.
Route statusOrganizer-linked course file. Google My Maps embedded on eugenemarathon.com/marathon, doc titled '2027 Eugene Marathon & Half Marathon'. Verified by download: 'Marathon Route' LineString has 1,021 points, haversine length 42.46 km (26.38 mi), start 44.0414,-123.0697 (Agate St) and finish 44.0419,-123.0713 (Hayward Field track). Also contains Half Marathon Route and mile markers 1-26.
The route line uses the best published course trace available. Public-domain USGS and USDA aerial photography plus USGS 3DEP elevation are baked into RunRace USA, so the flyover makes no paid map API or third-party runtime requests. Buildings, roads, parks and water use OpenStreetMap, ODbL. This is photographic terrain with modeled architecture, not photogrammetry. Bridge approaches, elevations and facade details are approximations; the organizer's published route remains the reference.
The elevation profile
This Marathon profile covers 26.2 miles, ranges from roughly 386 to 555 feet, and contains about 709 feet of modeled climb.
- , mile 8.01 to 8.65: 53 feet up, 1.5% average.
- , mile 23.64 to 24.51: 42 feet up, 0.9% average.
- , mile 0.85 to 1.3: 37 feet up, 1.5% average.

Race-week weather, measured
At the start line, April 21-29 averaged a low of 42°F and a high of 62°F across 2016-2025. The same window reached 80°F at its warmest and 32°F at its coldest. Measurable rain appeared on about 42% of sampled days. Treat the range, not just the average, as the packing list.
Pace it by effort
The profile and grade strip come from the same route currently loaded in the flyover. Use even pace as a baseline, then protect effort on the highlighted climbs and exposed sections.

Common questions
Does it sell out, or is there a lottery?
No lottery. It's first-come, first-served and registration normally stays open through the Expo, but the race's FAQ notes that in 2026 every distance sold out in January. Treat it as a sell-out race: sign up early rather than assuming you can walk up to the Expo and enter.
Can I transfer my bib or defer if I get hurt?
Entries are non-refundable and bibs are non-transferable to another person. The site does offer a deferral to a later year for a $30 fee, available only in a set window (roughly January 10 to April 5). Distance downgrades are free; upgrades cost the difference if space remains.
How do corrals work, and are they enforced?
Everyone gets a corral letter A through E on the bib, assigned from the estimated finish time you entered at registration. You may drop back freely, but moving up requires a visit to the Registration Troubleshoot desk at the Expo. The race asks you to line up by speed; enforcement at the line isn't described.
What is the time limit?
Marathon 7 hours, half 3.5 hours, both requiring a 16-minute-per-mile pace. The site states this two ways: a flat 7-hour limit, and separately that the finish line closes 7 hours after the last person starts. Assume the stricter reading if you're near the back.
What actually happens if I fall behind the cutoff?
The race is blunt about it: once you pass the pace limit there is no traffic protection and water and aid stations are shut down. Officials sweep the course to make sure everyone is safe. There are official sweeper pacers for both the marathon and the half, so watch for that group.
Where is bag check and how does it work?
Gear check opens 5:45 a.m. on Finisher Field (Field #1) west of Hayward Field, marathon and half only. You enter the line at the tent matching your corral letter. Write your bib number on the bag at Expo packet pickup and use the clear bag handed out at the Expo.
What's the weather like on race day?
The race site publishes no weather guidance, so this is from general knowledge rather than a page I fetched: late April in Eugene is typically cool and damp, often 40s at the 7 a.m. start with a real chance of rain. Pack a throwaway layer; don't plan for a warm morning.
What catches first-timers out about this race?
Two things. Packets cannot be mailed and pickup is mandatory: bring photo ID and your confirmation QR code, or pay $15 for race-morning pickup between 5:30 and 6:15 a.m. And the start is on Agate Street, not inside Hayward Field: the stadium is where you finish, on the track in the final half mile.

Course geometry provenance is stated beside the player; elevation profiles always use the same route loaded there. City geometry is OpenStreetMap, ODbL. Aerial imagery is from USGS and USDA; other images carry their own source credits. Weather figures use Open-Meteo reanalysis for April 21-29 across 2016-2025 at the start line. Schedule, prices and expo hours were checked in 2026-08-31 and are the fields most likely to move: confirm them on www.eugenemarathon.com before you book anything. Spot an error?
