The race-week geography

The thing runners get wrong here is assuming start and finish are the same place. They are not. The marathon and half start at 8th & Broadway, right beside the Music City Center, while every distance finishes across the river at Nissan Stadium (source: the race's Parking & Transportation page). The two are close by marathon standards, roughly a mile apart on opposite banks of the Cumberland, but you still want a bed that solves both ends, not one. The good news is that a downtown room does exactly that: walk five minutes downhill to the corral, and after the finish walk back over the river instead of hunting a car. The second mistake is booking on the wrong side of the closures. Roads across the course are shut on race morning (the official Traffic Impact page gives a 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. window; a local traffic guide for a prior edition gave 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. -- both readings appear in print), and vehicles left on the route are ticketed and towed. If your hotel is outside the loop and your plan involves driving in at 5:30 a.m., you have no plan. Note also that the race's own site currently mixes calendars, showing an April 25-26, 2026 weekend in some places and April 24-25, 2027 on the traffic and accommodations pages, so verify dates against your registration rather than the marketing copy.

Broadway / SoBro, within sight of 8th & Broadway

2-5 min to the start; roughly 20-25 min back from the Nissan Stadium finish

This is the default correct answer and where the already-measured cluster sits: Tempo, Cambria Nashville Downtown, Holston House, Holiday Inn Express Downtown, Renaissance and Embassy Suites are all a couple of minutes from the corrals. Several of these appear on the race's own official hotel partner list, including Cambria Nashville Downtown, Tempo by Hilton Nashville Downtown and Holiday Inn Express Downtown Nashville, so a race rate may exist. At 5:45 a.m. this neighbourhood is not quiet -- lower Broadway is a bar district and the night before a Saturday race it stays loud late -- but that same density means coffee, open lobbies and a stream of other runners walking the same direction, so you cannot get lost. Ask for a room on a high floor or facing away from Broadway.

Music City Center / Convention Center block

3-8 min to the start

The blocks around the convention centre on Demonbreun and 5th put you a short flat walk from 8th & Broadway without putting you directly over a honky-tonk. The race lists a dense cluster of official partner hotels here, among them Hilton Garden Inn Nashville Downtown/Convention Center, Hyatt House Nashville Downtown/Convention Center, Omni Nashville, AC Hotel Nashville Downtown and Hyatt Place Nashville Downtown; the accommodations page currently names Caption by Hyatt Downtown Nashville as the headquarters property. The 5K and 10K start at 8th & Demonbreun, so if anyone in your party is running the short race this is the most efficient base of all. Mornings here are calm and well lit, and the walk to the corral involves no hills.

East Bank / Nissan Stadium side

finish-line adjacent; roughly 20-25 min across the river to the start

Holiday Inn Nashville Downtown Stadium is on the race's official partner list and sits on the finish side, which flips the equation: you have a slightly longer pre-dawn walk to the corral but a very short shuffle to a shower afterwards. Weigh that honestly against your own preferences. The trade-off is real, because stadium campus roads have historically closed early and for a long stretch -- a prior-year traffic guide described the Nissan Stadium campus closing from 8 a.m. Friday through 3 p.m. Sunday -- so a car parked over there may be immobile for the whole weekend.

Midtown / Vanderbilt and West End

too far to walk to the start; plan on a shuttle or a very early rideshare

The official hotel list runs well beyond downtown into the Vanderbilt corridor: Hilton Garden Inn Vanderbilt, Embassy Suites Vanderbilt, Tempo by Hilton Nashville Midtown, Courtyard Nashville Vanderbilt/West End, Aloft Nashville West End, Element Nashville Vanderbilt West End, The Aertson and The Hayes Street Hotel. These are usually cheaper and quieter, and two of them -- Loews Vanderbilt and Holiday Inn Vanderbilt -- are named as official Old Town Trolley shuttle pickup points, which is the only reason to consider this zone. The course itself runs out through Music Row, so on race morning you may be on the wrong side of a closed street from your own hotel; check the closure grid before booking here.

Airport and Opry Mills (shuttle-dependent)

none; entirely shuttle or train

Embassy Suites Nashville Airport and Sonesta Nashville Airport are on the official partner list, and Airport Center, Sheraton Music City Airport and the Opry Mills Mall north lot are named Old Town Trolley pickup points. This only works if you buy the shuttle in advance and redeem the voucher for a wristband at the expo before race day, which the race explicitly requires. It is a cost play, not a comfort play, and it commits your morning to somebody else's timetable.

The morning connection

Assume your car is useless on Saturday morning and build from there. The official Traffic Impact page says most closures and detours run 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with streets reopening progressively behind the field; a prior-year local traffic guide put the same window at 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., so the two published readings differ and you should plan for the longer one. On-street parking along the route is signed No Parking, and the race and police are unambiguous that vehicles there are ticketed and towed at the owner's expense -- a Metro Nashville PD post circulated stating towing begins at midnight the night before, which is early enough to catch anyone who parks after dinner and goes to bed. If you must drive in, the race names two garages off the course near the start, the Courthouse Parking Garage at 701 James Robertson Pkwy and the TA Lot at 151 N. 1st St, both at a $15 day rate with the TA Lot reservable online, and points at SpotHero for reserved spots near the expo, start and finish. Do not count on Nissan Stadium parking; a recent edition had none due to construction. WeGo local buses run on detour that morning, so a normal route lookup will lie to you.
