Moab 240

A 240 mile loop out of Moab through the Behind the Rocks slickrock, into the canyons, up into the La Sal Mountains at 11,000 feet, across the Abajos, and back. Four days. It is the most famous of the American 200s and the one most people name first.

Triple Crown of 200s

The Moab 240 is Destination Trail's flagship and it earned its reputation honestly. The route is a genuine loop, which is rare at this distance, and the terrain changes completely as you go: exposed slickrock and desert wash in the early miles, then a long climb into alpine forest in the La Sals, then the Abajo Mountains, then back down into the desert for a final push to Moab. October in Utah means hot afternoons and genuinely cold nights, sometimes snow at altitude.

It sits alongside Bigfoot and Tahoe in the Triple Crown of 200s, which a small number of people attempt in a single year.

How to get in

Your realistic odds Entry is achievable for anyone with the résumé and the calendar discipline to register on time. The race itself has a substantially lower finish rate than a hundred, and the reasons are sleep deprivation, feet, and the temperature swing between a Utah afternoon and a La Sal night.

Questions runners actually ask

Is Moab 240 harder than a 100 miler?

It is a different event. The physical pace is slower and more manageable, but sleep management, foot care, and four days of continuous decision-making create failure modes that don't exist in a hundred.

What is the Triple Crown of 200s?

Finishing Bigfoot 200, Tahoe 200, and Moab 240 in the same calendar year. See the dedicated guide.
